This is a collaboration between me and Martina Negroni for a small university project on printed storytelling. We interviewed two girls from Sofia, Bulgaria, who live in Bolzano, Italy, asking them to think about the main differences between their hometown and Bolzano.

Being emotionally bonded to their balcanic roots, they were not limited in their descriptions by the neutrality given by exclusive objectiveness, but they rather lingered on personal tales, as the interviews were going deeper. After having collected the portrait we needed, the output came into life

Being emotionally bonded to their balcanic roots, they were not limited in their descriptions by the neutrality given by exclusive objectiveness, but they rather lingered on personal tales, as the interviews were going deeper. After having collected the portrait we needed, the output came into life effortless: we picked some short statements from those interviews and we wandered around Bolzano, looking for places, architectures or objects that could be associated with our perception of the opposite of each of those statements.

effortless: we picked some short statements from those interviews and we wandered around Bolzano, looking for places, architectures or objects that could be associated with our perception of the opposite of each of those statements.

The result is a photographic and textual portrait of both Sofia and Bolzano, expressed with a game of 10 semantic and visual negatives, running freely through the subjectivity of perceptions. The postcards were printed in white UV ink on black Curious Skin 300gr paper.
